I was born in the Summer of 1973 & I’ve never been around those parts of the city back in 77’ because I was way too young for it .

To me the as a child, the old Steeplechase horses were magic. Especially when they turned a corner and seemed to be riding in the sky with the ocean in view. It was magic. At Luna Park there was a beautiful, highly glossed wooden floor. A ride was for a child to slide down that floor which had loops and was on an incline. As I recall the wood was imported from Sweden and was beautiful. Sorry if name icon comes up 2x. Computer glitch.

Las Vegas must have been incredible in those days with all the iconic Casinos that put Las Vegas on the map....

In the Al Mooney biography "They All Fly Through the Same Air", the chapter about the Culver V mentions the prototype aircraft had only one aileron, located on the starboard wing. The single aileron, the large amount of wingtip washout, and the outer panel dihedral worked together for roll control. The other thing that is interesting is the very narrow Center of Gravity range. The fuel is located in the wing leading edge, baggage is carried between the engine and the cockpit, and the seats are on the CG. This was done as part of the "Simpli-Fly" concept that linked the flaps to the stabilator for pitch control. All in all, a simple looking aircraft, but very sophisticated (and complicated!) in its design features.

My grandfather had a Culver V he restored in the 70s flew for years and was sold in the 90s after he passed. Trying to find out where it ended up.

A true walk back in time. I had forgotten exactly the location of the Imperial Motel, where I stayed in 1967, now thanks to you I know that it was a block or two north of the Sands Hotel. Then the recordings downtown show the locations of the old casinos, hard to imagine since they are all gone. Even saw Trader Bll's. Just think, seeing the construction of the DUNES hi-rise hotel. The Landmark and the old convention center. The entertainers on the marquees. We all all thankful to the person who had the foresight to film driving down the Strip. Also, note how well dressed everyone was then. Thank you sir and thumbs up

I miss the true times of the Aviation Age....to travel by plane was an event... the airport... you knew you were there with various Boeing and MD jets and props...they were loud, they smoked and they were beautiful. Now, it's two engine under the wing...boring to watch for they all look like 737's ...they aren't loud thanks to the Karens - they make more noise than the jets...and security TSA.... makes me want to drive now. So, thanks for the memories... I was little but I remember...had the airport play sets.😁

My family has been here in Vegas since 1929, and while I look at this video, knowing all of my family, grandfather, and grandmother, were somewhere milling around town or just sitting at home or at work. My mom was 7 years old while this was being filmed They are all gone now it's just me and my brother left in Vegas it chokes me up a little it's like looking back in time thank you for the video

Being in Atlantic City right now it’s very cool to see it in its glory days. I’m also very impressed the horse went all the way up the ramp to the diving board all on his own (rider was waiting at the top). Amazingly trained to do something like that.

Vegas...Bring back the naked showgirls.....but, dump the guys. When people think of Vegas, they think of the showgirls...but, there are no more showgirls shows in Vegas...showgirls are banned by the corporations that own the Vegas Casinos.

This just showed up in my sidebar. I am so happy to see this. In the mid Sixties, my brother and I were teenagers, living off base with my family (AirForce father) in St. David's, on Chapel of Ease Road, right across from Smith's Island. We had a straightaway view of St. George's Island and had great views of the harbor. Tall masted ships, yachts and submarines are great memories of those views. It didn't take us long to go native; learning Portuguese slang and copping a peculiar form of an English accent that was hard to kick when we got back to the States. Everything in the video is so familiar to me from our frequent romps around the Islands.

The first 3:30" are the "Casino de Paris" at the Dunes Hotel. I was a dancer in that show . The rest is the "Lido" at the stardust.
